Char Dham Yatra Package 2027–2028

Complete Travel Guide, Itinerary, Cost, Hotels & Booking Information

Experience the Sacred Journey to the Himalayas with ABD Holidays Pvt. Ltd.

There are some journeys that are remembered not because of the distance travelled, but because of the emotions they leave behind. The Char Dham Yatra is one such pilgrimage. Every year, millions of devotees from across India and around the world travel to the Garhwal Himalayas to seek blessings at the four sacred shrines—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. For many pilgrims, this is not simply a vacation; it is a lifelong spiritual dream and an opportunity to reconnect with faith amidst the breathtaking beauty of Uttarakhand.

Whether you are planning your first pilgrimage or returning once again to experience the divine atmosphere of the Himalayas, choosing the right Char Dham Yatra package can make your journey safer, more comfortable, and better organised.

At ABD Holidays Pvt. Ltd., we have been helping pilgrims explore Uttarakhand since 2013. Over the years, we have welcomed families, senior citizens, solo travellers, NRIs, and pilgrimage groups, understanding that every traveller has different expectations and requirements. Some seek a budget-friendly road trip, while others prefer the comfort of premium hotels or the convenience of helicopter services. Our goal is to make every pilgrimage smooth, memorable, and spiritually fulfilling.

What is the Char Dham Yatra?

The Char Dham Yatra is one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimages, covering four sacred temples located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand:

  • Yamunotri – Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna
  • Gangotri – Dedicated to Goddess Ganga
  • Kedarnath – One of the Twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva
  • Badrinath – The holy abode of Lord Vishnu

According to tradition, pilgrims visit these shrines in the following order:

Yamunotri → Gangotri → Kedarnath → Badrinath

This sequence has been followed for centuries and is believed to complete the sacred Char Dham pilgrimage.

Why is the Char Dham Yatra So Special?

Unlike many religious journeys, the Char Dham Yatra combines spirituality with nature. Every route passes through majestic Himalayan valleys, flowing rivers, ancient temples, dense forests, picturesque villages, and the famous Panch Prayag confluences.

Many travellers describe the experience as much more than visiting temples. Watching the first rays of sunlight touch the snow-covered peaks, listening to the sound of temple bells, and witnessing evening aarti beside sacred rivers creates memories that remain for a lifetime.

It is this unique blend of devotion and natural beauty that attracts millions of pilgrims every year.

Begin Your Spiritual Journey with Confidence

The Char Dham Yatra is more than a destination—it is a journey of devotion, patience, and self-discovery. Every temple, every mountain road, and every river along the way has its own story, making the pilgrimage a deeply meaningful experience.

With thoughtful planning, reliable travel arrangements, and the right guidance, you can focus on what truly matters—seeking blessings and enjoying the spiritual beauty of the Himalayas.

The Char Dham Yatra is much more than travelling from one temple to another. Every shrine has its own history, traditions, legends, and spiritual importance. Together, these four temples represent a journey of faith that has inspired pilgrims for centuries.

Following the traditional order of the pilgrimage—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath—is believed to bring spiritual fulfilment and inner peace. Each destination offers a unique blend of devotion, culture, and the breathtaking beauty of the Himalayas.

1. Yamunotri – The First Dham of the Sacred Journey

Tentative Opening Date 2027: 09 May 2027

Nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of around 3,293 metres, Yamunotri is the first stop of the Char Dham Yatra. Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, the temple marks the spiritual beginning of the pilgrimage.

According to Hindu beliefs, Goddess Yamuna is the daughter of Surya Dev (the Sun God) and the sister of Yama, the God of Death. It is believed that devotees who bathe in the sacred waters of the Yamuna and seek the blessings of Goddess Yamuna are blessed with purity and protection.

Although the actual source of the Yamuna River is the Champasar Glacier, the temple at Yamunotri has been the centre of devotion for generations.

Why Pilgrims Visit Yamunotri

  • First temple of the Char Dham Yatra
  • Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna
  • Holy Surya Kund hot water spring
  • Divya Shila worship before darshan
  • Scenic trek from Janki Chatti

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Ganga, who is believed to have descended from heaven to Earth through the locks of Lord Shiva after the intense penance of King Bhagirath.

Standing beside the roaring Bhagirathi River, pilgrims experience an atmosphere filled with devotion and serenity. The sound of the river, the crisp mountain air, and the daily evening aarti create unforgettable memories.

Unlike Yamunotri and Kedarnath, Gangotri is directly accessible by road, making it easier for families and senior citizens.

Among all four shrines, Kedarnath holds a special place in the hearts of devotees. Situated at an altitude of around 3,583 metres, it is one of the Twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and one of the holiest temples in India.

Surrounded by snow-covered Himalayan peaks and located near the Mandakini River, Kedarnath offers a spiritual atmosphere unlike any other.

The temple is believed to have been established by the Pandavas after the Mahabharata and later revived by Adi Shankaracharya.

Pilgrims can reach Kedarnath by:

  • Trekking around 16 kilometres from Gaurikund
  • Pony or palki services
  • Helicopter services from Phata, Sersi, and Guptkashi

For many devotees, the journey itself becomes an unforgettable part of the pilgrimage.

Located on the banks of the Alaknanda River at an altitude of approximately 3,133 metres, Badrinath Temple is surrounded by the majestic Nar and Narayan mountain ranges.

Before entering the temple, devotees traditionally take a holy dip in Tapt Kund, a natural hot water spring believed to have sacred significance.

Which Temple Should You Visit First?

The traditional sequence of the Char Dham Yatra is:

Yamunotri → Gangotri → Kedarnath → Badrinath

Following this order has been a long-standing tradition and is observed by the majority of pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham Yatra.

Why Every Temple Offers a Unique Experience

While all four temples are deeply spiritual, each destination has something unique to offer.

  • Yamunotri welcomes pilgrims with a peaceful trek and sacred hot springs.
  • Gangotri offers the serene presence of the Bhagirathi River and evening aarti.
  • Kedarnath combines devotion with the grandeur of the high Himalayas.
  • Badrinath completes the pilgrimage with its rich traditions and nearby attractions like Mana Village.

Together, these experiences make the Char Dham Yatra far more than a religious tour—it becomes a journey of faith, reflection, and unforgettable Himalayan memories.

Many first-time pilgrims focus only on booking hotels and transportation. However, experienced travellers know that small preparations—such as carrying the right clothing, allowing extra travel time, and understanding mountain weather—often make the biggest difference.

This section will help you prepare for every stage of your journey.

Char Dham Registration 2027–2028

  • Plan your itinerary with confidence.
  • Avoid last-minute rush.
  • Coordinate hotel and transport bookings.

Instead of trying to rush from one temple to another, allow yourself time to enjoy the rivers, forests, villages, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes along the way. These moments often become just as memorable as the temple darshan itself.

With good planning, suitable accommodation, reliable transportation, and a flexible schedule, your Char Dham Yatra can become one of the most meaningful journeys of your life.
